Water cooling blown films offers advantages such as:
• Higher & robust throughputs
• High clarity
• High gloss
• Soft touch/feel
• Good mechanical properties

Generally water cooled blown film equipments have upward bubble. Equipment introduced by few leading machinery manufacturers for downward cooled blown films:
Windmoller and Holscher’s AQUAREX is a blown film line family that turns extrusion up-side down. The "up-side-down wet" blows film downwards and uses water instead of air to quench the bubble. The bubble is blown upside down, meaning the extruders are situated on top of the tower. The result is soft film with high clarity and gloss, and exceptional puncture- and tear-resistance that can be used for barrier films and medical applications. Films produced are ideal for further processing with an MDO (Machine Direction Orientation) line. Because of the short cooling distance, building and tower height requirements are lower than with blown film lines. In addition, every component that touches water is made of stainless steel. Films produced are well suited for medical applications and barrier film products.
Brampton Engineering’s AquaFrost is a downward blown waterquenched process that utilizes up to 50% less floor space and produces 10-15% less scrap than a comparable cast line. The line can operate up to 2.1 kg/hr/mm of die diameter (37 lbs/hr/inch of die circumference), which is over two times the rate of conventional blown film and competitive with cast film rates. The blown film orientation of AquaFrost gives the film balanced mechanical properties, permitting the use of less expensive resins than required in cast. Its high heat transfer rate minimizes the time the melt spends in the critical crystal-growth stage, producing a film with superb clarity and softness that is ideal for deep draw thermoforming applications. This rapid quench also allows the utilization of more cost effective PA and PP resins compared to conventional blown film, with the benefit of a softer film with better optical properties.
Europlama Extrusion Machinery’s MXB Series Multi-Layer Coextrusion downward blowing water-cool blown film lines are adopted multi-layer coextrusion combinative diehead, downward blowing water-cool, rotating haul-off etc the newest and patented technologies. They can process PP, mLLDPE, LDPE, PA, BIPOLYMER PP, TERPOLYMET PP etc. Produced films are ideal for packing and laminated packing material with the good performance of barrier, sealing, transparency, photophobic, heat-sealing and printing. In addition, they can replace most CPP and BOPP plastic film. They can be used for various applications such as; mulit-layer plastic packing film for food, agricultural and sideline products, medical treatment, pesticide, chemical industry, articles for daily-use and war industry articles.
