Kabra Extrusiontechnik organized a demonstration of their new 120mm extrusion line at their factory in Daman , India . Kabra is the largest manufacturer of plastics machinery in India today, exporting equipment to 62 countries, in addition to catering to the internal demand of the Indian processing industry. At this event, they were supported by Borouge and Corma Inc. of Canada , the manufacture of equipment to produce corrugated pipe or structured wall pipes for drainage and sewage.

Kabra, who work in close collaboration with Battenfield Extrusiontechnik and American Maplan, produce a range of extruders and down line equipment. Their new 120mm screw design machine is capable of producing PE pipes, up to 1400mm diameter, at an output rate of 1200kg/hour. Previously, their largest
extruder was capable of producing 630mm diameter pipes.

Over 150 visitors from as far away as Kuwait came to Daman to witness the demonstration. Despite being only the second trial on the machine, the extruder ran very smoothly, producing good quality 1000mm PE100 pipes from BorSafe HE3490-LS black compound.

The demonstration was accompanied by a number of presentations:
  •   Mr. S N Kabra, one of Kabra’s directors, welcomed the delegates and introduced a number of their recent developments, including the high output lines for large diameter HDPE pipe, twin die high output PVC pipe extruder and a new blown film plant of 2500 mm LFT.
  •  Chanchal Dasgupta from Borouge explained how large diameter PE-100 pipes can be competitive with other
materials, if the “Whole Life Cost” is

considered. Major savings accrue from the lower installation costs and the proven longer service of PE systems without maintenance of repair.
  •   Mr. RA Gite, General Manager of Kabra, presented some of the technical features of the new PE pipe extrusion lines and the new technologies introduced in various components of the machine
  •   For Corma, Derrick Clark and Christian Apple made interesting presentations on plastic pipes for drainage and sewerage systems, focusing on single and twin wall corrugated pipes.

The presentations were followed by a very lively question and answer session, and ended with a vote of thanks by Mr. Anand Kabra.
