Vietnam expects to earn US$600 million with exports of nearly 2.5 mln ton of plastic products in 2008, up 33% over the same period last year.
The country grossed US$92 million from plastic product exports in Q1-2006, a y-o-y increase of 20.7% Primary suppliers of resins are from Thailand, South Korea, Taiwan, Singapore and USA.
Locally-made resins, currently, meet only one third of the total demand. The industry is now planning to raise local inputs to 50% by 2010 by producing 2.1 million tons of material.
